AN ACTIVE NEOPROTEROZOIC CONTINENTAL MARGIN OF THE ZAVKHAN MICROCONTINENT (MONGOLIA): ISOTOPIC-GEOCHRONOLOGICAL EVIDENCE

چکیده
There have been presented the results of study a thick (no less than 2–3 km), extended (for more 200 km) volcanogenic formation (Tsetsen-Uul or Yargait) in south Zavkhan terrane Central Asian fold belt. The is an assemblage frequently intercalating effusive rocks subalkaline basalt-andesite-dacite-rhyolite series, their tuffs, tuffites, ignimbrites, and terrigenous rocks. Felsic dominate over basites, tuffogenic effusives. some evidence that emerged subaerial setting, with explosive eruptions, petrogeochemical features are typical for subduction environment. felsic high negative ε Nd from –11.5 to –12.8 Early Precambrian model age T (DM)=2.4–2.5 Ga, which indicates presence ancient crust at depth its involvement magma. supports volcanic within active continental margin. continental-margin stage ranges ~860 Ma ~780 based on LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating zircons. Tsetsen-Uul (Yargait) similar structure composition Sarkhoi group Tuva-Mongolian massif, partially overlaps them time. It concluded all three formations same geodynamic setting time interval, fragments arc belonging both paleomicrocontinents.

متن کاملThe Sr, C and O isotopic evolution of Neoproterozoic seawater
Sr and C isotopic data obtained on stratigraphic suites of well-preserved marine limestone from Siberia, Namibia, Canada, Svalbard and East Greenland provide a relatively detailed first-order record of isotopic variation in seawater through the late Neoproterozoic Era. This data is used to revise the SrrSr and dC curves of this important interval, during which several discrete global ice ages o...
متن کاملGlobal events across the Mesoproterozoic–Neoproterozoic boundary: C and Sr isotopic evidence from Siberia
Thick, unmetamorphosed successions of siliciclastic and carbonate rocks in eastern and western Siberia preserve a record of Middle Riphean to Early Upper Riphean sedimentary environments and geochemistry. Consistent with data from other continents, our studies in the Uchur–Maya region in southeastern Siberia and the Turukhansk Uplift in northwestern Siberia suggest a first-order shift in C from...
متن کاملThe Lost South Gobi Microcontinent: Protolith Studies of Metamorphic Tectonites and Implications for the Evolution of Continental Crust in Southeastern Mongolia
The Central Asian Orogenic Belt, or Altaids, is an amalgamation of volcanic arcs and microcontinent blocks that records a complex late Precambrian–Mesozoic accretionary history. Although microcontinents cored by Precambrian basement are proposed to play an integral role in the accretion process, a lack of isotopic data hampers volume estimates of newly produced arc-derived versus old-cratonic c...
متن کاملModeling Sedimentary Deposits on the Continental Margin
A first objective is to investigate the fabric (pattern) of seabed stratification on continental margins at small time and space scales (1 cm-50 cm depth into the seabed; 1 hr-3 yrs sedimentary record). To this end, we are testing the hypothesis that on muddy shelves such as the northern California shelf, Holocene event stratigraphy consists of the deposits of high-concentration storm regimes a...
